In boxing terms, Phoenix are Undisputed & Undefeated at Old Isleworthians & Heston which is a historic place as this was the ground where Phoenix won their very first match. With Fabian still absent through injury Nad was at the helm of the Argos as he lead the Argonuats to the short journey along the A4 to Isleworth. A warm day welcomed both teams and on winning the toss, the opposition skipper asked Phoenix to bat first. The Marquess of Queensberry rules were out and the game was on.

Phoenix got of to a blistering start and maintained the run rate at a high tempo. Sofian in magnificent touch continued his sumptious form has he played with a elegancy & class close to royalty. Sofian is Phoenix own Sufistar has he made a brillant seventy runs which included nine fours and two sixes and this being his third fifty in a row.

Phoenix at declaration had reached two hundred and eight off just twenty nine overs with Tushar grafting to a hard fought twenty-nine runs (which inculded four fours) and Shaunak hitting a quick fire thirty-three runs (which included five fours). Also mention to Gindi coming in at number ten and hitting two fours in making his highest Phoenix score.

Phoenix came out firing on all cylinders after tea as Nad unleashed his triad of pace that being Shaunak, Rowdy and Sofian. Phoenix wooed the crowds as they outfighted, punched, counter punched, brawled and swarmed with all the boxing shots they could muster such as:

1. Left Jab, Straight Right, Left Hook.
2. Left Jab, Right Uppercut, Left Hook.
3. Left Hook to Body, Hook to Head, Straight Right, Left Hook.
4. Left Jab, Right Hook to Body, Left Hook to Body, Straight Right, Left Hook.
5. 5 Straight Shots, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left.
6. 6 Uppercuts to Body, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left.
7. Slip inside overhand Right, Left Hook to Body, Left Hook Head.
8. Straight Right to the Body, Straight Left to the Body, Overhand Right to the Head.
9. Left Jab, Left Hook to the Head, Straight Right to the Body, Left Hook Head.

After an early breakthrough by Rowdy Old Isleworthians & Heston began to dig and bat out for the draw. Nad instantly decided for trail by spin and spiderwebs spun nearly done the trick with the next eight wickets falling to Nad, Gindi and Sanj. With victory in sight, Nad had eight fielders in close to the batsman as edge after edge dropped agonisingly short. The number ten absorbed the Left Jab, Straight Right, Left Hook, Right Hook to the body, Left Hook to the Body, Right Uppercut, Left Hook Head. Whilst the number eleven held firm to the Left Hook Body, Left Hook Head, Straight Right Body, Left Body, Left Hook Head.

The moment of the game which could have won the game for Phoenix was when Varun let a chance go begging by when the number eleven batman bobbled up a catch of Sanj's bowling with only two overs left of the game to be played. The game ended up in the draw and Phoenix were left to rue their missed oppurtunity.

The man of the match award goes to Sanj who nearly bowled Phoenix to victory with six wickets. The half man and half amazing BDM Amazer award goes to Sofian when he hit a huge six with everyone was saying 'where did the ball go' and then in the distance a small sound could be heard and then a branch of a tree could be seen falling to the ground. A special mention to Sofian for passing two hundred runs, to Shaunak for passing one hundred runs and to Sanj for passing ten wickets for the season thus far.

Also a thank you to Fabian and Meher who came down to the game to provide moral support, technical analysis, intelligent conversation but above all bringing some fun & laughter to the proceedings at hand.

As always Old Isleworthians & Heston are tremendous hosts when welcoming us to their ground. As for Phoenix, they did everything they could as they stayed focused and disciplined through out the match. Win, lose or draw we can only take from any game is an education on how to improve next time around.

To quote Anatole France (French Writer, member of the French Academy and Nobel Prize for Literature in 1921, 1844-1924) “An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you know and what you don't.”
