Phoenix Cricket Club - Bournemouth 2015 Tour

Bournemouth 2015

In 1800 the area was largely a remote and barren heathland, used only by smugglers - most notably Isaac Gulliver, now considered one of the founding fathers of Bournemouth. The settlement of Bournemouth was founded in 1810 by Lewis Tregonwell, a captain in the Dorset Yeomanry. He built a house near Bourne Heath and then purchased eight and a half acres of land for just over £179. This is now the site of Bournemouth town centre.

On August 28, 2015, Phoenix found themselves travelling to Bournemouth in a shroud of secrecy with one of the Phoenix's founding fathers, Sanjeev. Not sure what the boys were smuggling in their bags hidden away from prying eyes as they lodged into their settlements. The boys offloaded their goods which could have been imported surreptitiously or in violation of the law although no precise details can be given as what goes on tour stays on tour.

WIth the cricket the games versus Swanage & Langley Manor were rained off but we did beat Emmbrook & Bearwood.

Phoenix on tour are a team full of laughter and comedy. To quote Mark Twain (AmericanHumoristWriter and Lecturer1835-1910), "
Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our irritation and resentments slip away, and a sunny spirit takes their place."

So another tour came & passed and yet again Phoenix showed their true colours and infected everyone involved with laughter, spirit and the sense of being a family.
