Match report The Dash - character from The Incredibles (a film from Pixar Animation) who has the ability to run extremely fast.

Sergio Leone - Spaghetti Western film director.

Once again the Phoenix adventure continues on and this time it sees Jason set sail, with his Argonauts, to the Falklands. People may say that the Pacific is a tough ocean to navigate across and playing near Argentina is a bit too much but rest assured people the Falklands the Phoenix are visiting is just down the M4 in Newbury.

So to set the scene, an idyllic venue welcomed Phoenix with a sea of green grass and trees that encompassed the ground. A beautiful place to place the game of cricket some would say. A warm but blustery day was upon the ground and after the toss Phoenix were asked to field first.

What came about would have made Sergio Leone proud for Phoenix created their own version of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The good being Phoenix's batting, the Bad being Phoenix's fielding and the Ugly being Phoenix's squabbling.

With the wicket being on the slower side the Phoenix bowlers needed to bowl with control and/or movement if they wanted to restrict the Falklands total. This they did but the Falklands batsmen were solid in their defence and punished anything that was loose. The pick of the bowling were Visual, who bowled with a nagging line & length in the corridor of uncertainty which contained the bastmen from hitting too many boundaries, and Sanj who has continued his form he has being showing this season thus far.

But the Falklands batsmen were at the heart of their own demise as they incredibly lost five wickets to run outs and their attempts of a winning total were dashed. Their final score was a gettable one hundred and sixty eight.

Phoenix knew they needed to bat well to win this match. Zahir and Noman opened up the innings and soon had score ticking along as they found the gaps and boundaries easily. They gave Phoenix the perfect start and when Zahir fell for nineteen (which included three fours) when the score was fifty eight off thirteen overs. Noman then came into his own as plundered the bowling as he began to find the boundaries with ease. Indi was not to be left out as he hit three fours in one over. Indi soon fell but he and Noman put on thirty four in four overs.

Noman continued to carry the attack to Falklands with some great pull shots and in a passage of play he hit seven boundaries in seven balls he faced. He was finally out for a brilliant sixty three (which included seven fours and three sixes) with the score at one hundred and nineteen off twenty one overs.

Rahul and Jim put on twenty three for the next wicket as Rahul fell after making a blistering twenty two (which included a four and two sixes). The run rate never ceased with Jim continuing his good form as he and Shiv chased down the final twenty seven runs with ease. Jim and Shiv were unbeaten on twenty two (which included two fours and a six) and ten respectively. Phoenix hit fifteen fours and six sixes in their victorious run chase.

It was a great day out with cricket being played in the spirit it should be and thanks to Falklands for their hospitality. See you next year.

As for Phoenix, Those who know how to win are much more numerous than those who know how to make proper use of their victories. Polybius (205 BC - 118 BC)
