Long Ditton v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sun 05 Aug 2012 at 14:00
Phoenix Cricket Club Won 5 wickets

Match report With Kully pulling out sick due to 'too much too drink' this morning excuse it was Fabian back in the captains chair. The nice drive through Hampton was not rushed as before and David Essex's back garden was where the game was to be played. The sun was out and all looked melodious as can be for this time of year. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is a 2005 American epic space opera film written and directed by George Lucas. It is the sixth and final film released in the Star Wars saga and the third in terms of the series' internal chronology.

The main essenace of the movie is that of Emperor Palpatine, true identity being Darth Sidious - a Dark Lord of the Sith, turning Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader.

Th sun was out again and with the powers at be, it was Phoenix who were to use the new cherry first. A good omen we may just say. Phoenix got off to a flyer as David induced the opener to an edge which Fab took fabulously in the slips. This sparked a mass orgy of Elation and Jubilation. The same combination of players struck again soon after but Fab instead of holding onto the catch he merely 'slapped' it to gully where Ali held on. There after Phoenix were on top of the game with the bowlers doing what naturally comes best to them with David conceding only nine runs for his three wickets and Harjit only eighteen runs for his two wickets off a combined sixteen over spell.

At tea, Phoenix looked comfortable as they needed one hundred and eighteen runs to win. With the loss of three early wikcets, Vishal joined Fabian at the crease. This was the moment when the darkness unfolded and Emperor Fabian Palpatine took in the young apprentice Vishal Skywalker. Together they forged a friendship and Emperor Fabian Palpatine guided his apprentice through the innings. They had put on a forty six run partnership in fifteen overs that took Phoenix within sight of victory.

With only six runs to win, Vishal Skywalker.gave into the darkside and turned into Darth Kumar Vader as like Darth Fabian Sidious we wanted to the end the innings with a six and a blaze of glory. Alas in this saga this did not happen but there are many battles and galaxies ahead to conquer that this task in just a matter of time.

Fabian and Sanj then had a moment to themselves as they sang The Goat Song by Adam Sandler on the way to the changing rooms ... the Bakri (Goat) Brothers Grimm has a quota of three:

I am a simple goat,
I live on the back of a pick-up truck
The old man tied me here with a 3-foot rope
Am I happy he don't give a f**k
Hey goat, I'm gonna beat your head in with a hickory stick

But don't feel sorry for me
Things weren't always this bad
Why, when I was a young talking goat
The old man was just like my dad

I come from the hills of Europe
That's where I met the old man
He was lost in the woods, I gave him directions
He gave me a tuna can

Then he stopped in his tracks and he said, "Hey goat
Would you like to live with me?
I've got a house with a pick-up truck
In a place across the sea"

I said, "Sure, why not, I've got no family
You seem like a nice guy"
So we went off to America
The home of the apple pie

The man of the match award goes to Fabian for his fifty & batting under pressure to see us home and the half man and half amazing BDM Amazer award goes to Jake & Alex 'The Liquid Boys of Windsor' for wanting to play for us again after debuting for us today. A special mention for Fabian for passing the hundred runs mark for the season thus far.

Well done to Long Ditton who always take the game seriously and allow everyone to have a game be it in victory of defeat.. As for Phoenix, all the guys had a game and they showed their true spirit regardless of ability. Everyone had a share and a say in the spoils of victory - this being the truest victory of them all. For success, attitude is equally as important as ability.

To quote Lou Holtz (American Football coach, 1937-1980) “Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.”
