Chalfont St Peter v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sun 19 Aug 2007 at 2pm
Phoenix Cricket Club Lost 40 runs
Match report
Radioactive decay - is the process in which an unstable atomic nucleus loses energy by emitting radiation in the form of particles or electromagnetic waves. This decay, or loss of energy, results in an atom of one type transforming to an atom of a different type.
Sanj still at the helm of Jason's Argos set sail for the short trip to Chalfont St Peter (CSP). A damp and drizzly day welcomed both team and on winning the toss the opposition captain elected to bat first.
Phoenix came out with a purpose and bowled well in the wet conditions. Tushar and Faizan had the CSP batsman playing and missing. With the energy levels up the fielding was top class as singles were prevented, direct hits resulting in a run out and excellent saves to stop runs. After ten overs, CSP were twenty eight for three.
CSP's batsman Neil then took charge of the situation and began to up the scoring the rate. Controversy then courted the game and overshadowed the good spirit when a no-ball was called when Fabian, bowling his off-spin, got Neil caught of a full toss which was over waist high but below the shoulder.
Alas Phoenix has its own energy transformation but this is a random process on the human level, in that it is impossible to predict when a particular person will decay, but given a large number of similar people, the decay is predictable. To quote Anthony Robbins (Life Coach) 'The higher your energy level, the more efficient your body. The more efficient your body, the better you feel and the more you will use your talent to produce outstanding results'.
Phoenix had lost heart and thus energy and played out the rest of the game devoid of emotion with concentration levels dropping as they gave away forty two runs in extras. CSP took advantage of the situation and ended with a challenging score of one hundred and seventy three off their allotted forty overs with Neil not out on eighty six.
Phoenix came out to bat and soon were in trouble as they slumped to sixteen for two for four overs. Noman and Shiv then steadied the ship and took control of the situation with Noman playing an excellent innings with sublime placement making fifty six (which included seven fours) and Shiv, not at his fluent best, making a splendid but hard fought twenty four (which included three fours).
They both took Phoenix to eighty runs off eighteen overs. Then to coin a phrase 'Phoenix can change the course of a match with the ease of Moses parting the Red Sea.' With the rain falling and the light fading Phoenix then changed the course of the match to CSP's favour as Phoenix lost eight wickets in the next fifteen overs and finally succumbed to defeat.
A special mention to Faizan for passing the one hundred run mark for the season thus far.
Well done to Chalfont St Peter on their win and providing an excellent pitch, teas and facilities.
As for Phoenix they need to stay positive and not to react inversely to any situation which then adversely affects their own performance. To quote "Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but by how we react to what happens; not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst...a spark that creates extraordinary results."
