Thames Ditton v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sun 13 Jul 2008 at 1.30pm
Phoenix Cricket Club Lost 10 wickets
Match report
In the third year of Hoshea, King Hezekiah began to reign and asked “What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the Lord?”. In Jason's third year in reign nothing of the sort is envisaged but could Jason's Argonauts stay united instead of looking for the signal to go up to the pavilion for tea's and beer.
Voodoo is a West African word meaning 'spirit'; the original word was vodun. The basic ethos of the religion is that everything in the universe is connected. Nothing happens by chance in this world, and there are no accidents. Everything that you do to one person you are doing to yourself, because you are that person.
Indeed Phoenix was under some bad voodoo as both cohesion and spark were missing in the team's behaviour before the game actually began.
Jason took charge of his ship and led the Red Caps on a lovely sunny day to the scenic Thames Ditton. Phoenix didn't get off to a good start as they managed to be late and thus started the game thirty minutes after the scheduled start time.
The first of the day's two cheering point came as Jason won the toss.
The spirit, the cohesion and the bonding together of members in such a way as to sustain their will and commitment to each other & the game was missing. A spark plug is used to ignite compressed aerosol gasoline giving life to some internal combustion engines but alas in the Phoenix Warbird the fuel tank was full but due to the lack of cohesion there was no spark to ignite it.
Phoenix went out to bat first, on what was a good track, and lost wickets regularly from the off thus never giving themselves a platform to launch into a big score. Phoenix were eventually bowled out for one hundred and forty four with a few overs to spare.
After tea, Phoenix needed to take all their chances if they desired to win the game. Some very sharp and hard chances were failed to be taken and soon after the Phoenix's heads began to fall.
With the spark missing, Phoenix failed to fire as they self-combusted to defeat instead of igniting everyone with their usual brilliance.
The second and final cheering point of the day came as Thames Ditton hit the winning runs and this nightmare & lacklustre of a performance was over. Openers Messieurs Annabel and Chesterman both made excellent fifties and took Thames Ditton to a ten wicket winning margin.
Richard batted with gusto and ran out of partners has he tried to bring respectability to the score and for this reason he is named Man of the Match.
Well done to Thames Ditton who gelled as side and supported one another both on and off the pitch that produced them this comprehensive victory.
As for Phoenix, who got up on the wrong side of the bed, need to invest in some Mojo to protect themselves from each other and bad voodoo. Mojo is a term commonly encountered in the African-American folk belief called hoodoo. A mojo is a type of magic charm in the form of Amulets and Talisman that is used to keep bad voodoo away and protect people from sickness & evil and also to attract good things. Based on the performance Phoenix should invest into one or maybe all of the following:
Cat Claw’s or Snake Head Root to protect from slander, arguments and harassments.
Lotus Root to keep thoughts pleasant and clear, attracts powerful Spirits to give strength and help in all endeavours.
Rose of Jericho to catch bad vibes so they cannot harm you.
In a united cell ones action truly does impact other peoples reactions. Thus its time for Phoenix to show signs of maturity and humility by being responsible for their own actions both off and on the field of play. This will help the united cell to stay unbreakable instead of fragmenting away piece by piece.
To quote William Orville Douglas “We look to the heavens for help and uplift, but it is to the earth we are chained; it is from the earth that we must find our sustenance; it is on the earth that we must find solutions to the problems that promise to destroy all life here.”
