Englefield Green v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sun 30 Apr 2017 at 1.30pm
Phoenix Cricket Club Won 4 wickets
Match report
Won by 4 wickets. A tumultuous week ends with an excellent win today as we chased 158 with 14 overs to spare. The weather threatened to the spoil the affair but luckily the rain stayed away.
Sanjeev lost the toss and we were asked to bowl first. We nearly got the perfect start as Mannu Singh with the first ball of the match found the edge but unfortunately the regulation catch was put down.We continued to bowl well & took wickets at regular intervals thus not allowing Englefield Green build any substantial partnerships & thus preventing them posting a huge score. Sanjeev & Fabian were the pick of the bowling taking 4 & 3 wickets respectively. With Rocky Sharma & Vikas Haripuriya bowling sublimely as well, the opposition were restricted by spinners to 158.
Special mention to Fabian who took a wicket with his ball of the season :o)
After tea, we came out to bat knowing a good start is vital in a run chase. Rocky played 2 exquisite shots for four & six before being trapped LBW. Hitesh Pabari batted positively for 25 as he knew he couldn't get out cheaply, Vikas batted solidly for 20 knowing that he was taking us close to the finishing line and Mannu hit 2 sixes to give us the impetus.
These guys batted around Rajinder Chouhan who made a majestic 51 off 43 balls that included 10 fours & a six. He held the innings together as wickets fell but he stayed calm under pressure and took us to victory.
It's good to be back to winning ways. Great effort from Ciaran & Fabian who stepped up to help the team out.
There is always a way to overcome misunderstandings but to achieve this both parties need to behave with respect with one another and above all listen to all concerns, its not about having an argument but its about resolving issues with a discussion.
