Match report A superb day for cricket with the sun shining and even though the wicket had a tinge of green on it, I decided to bat first to the surprise to both my team mates and the opposition captain. In the end we won by 92 runs as we posted 192 and bowled Bracknell out in the 30th over when they chased.

We started poorly as we lost Rajinder Chouhan, Jeeta Dhillon & Rocky Sharma early and just after drinks we lost Hitesh Pabari, Vishal Kumar & Baljit Suman cheaply. At 90 for 6 we were struggling even to get to 120. Harman Johal then held the innings together with an excellent 55 off 46 balls which included 7 fours & 2 sixes as he got us past 120. Vikas Haripuriya then added impetus to the innings with a superb 42 off 55 balls which included 3 fours & 2 sixes. They both batted brilliantly on a pitch that was suited to the bowlers as you were never 100% in regardless of how many balls you faced, a ball that did a little bit to get your wicket was never far away.

At 132 for 8, Meher Savrimuttu stepped to the fray and listened to instructions as he just got stuck in there protecting his wicket. With Vikas, they both put on 58 runs in 12 overs as the momentum moved into the Phoenix's favour. At tea we knew if our bowlers did what they have been doing all season we could defend 192. Harman & Mannu Singh bowled with pace & movement as they had the top order struggling and then Sanjeev Kumar cleaned up the middle & lower order for a deserved win.

The team's spirit is strong and working as collective is bringing the best out of all the players. Everyone is contributing in their little ways which is bringing success to the team. Today we were well supported by Bali, Tarsem Kumar & Neville Vapiwala who cheered the boundaries that were hit & the wickets that were taken.

After the game we all went to celebrate Sanjeev Kumar's 48th birthday so as always let the whiskey flow. A time for enjoyment for everyone!
