Phoenix Cricket Club Lost 31 runs

Match report Lost to Sheen Common by 31 runs. So the last game of the season in Sheen Common with the sun shining upon us & the boys rearing to go. There were some awards to be sorted today so that played on the back of the minds of the players in the hunt for silverware.

The skipper, Sanjeev Kumar, was weary from a long hard fought season and was more excited that this was to be our last game 😀.

We lost the toss & were asked to bowl first & we got off to a great start as BaBa Bunty Tejvir took two wickets off his first over. Vikas Haripuriya bowled impressively with 2 for 10 off his 7 over spell and Mannu Singh wrapped up the tail. He is on a hattrick the next time he bowls.

At tea we had to chase 155 to win but we gave away too many runs, atleast 30, with some awful misfielding.

We came out positively as we took 14 off the first over but kept on losing wickets on a regular basis. Vishal Kumar continued his form but when we was set on 27 he lost his wicket & we never recovered from there. Sandeep & Sanjeev put on 27 runs for the last wicket but we were eventually all out for 123.

We should have won this game easily but complacency in all aspects of the game was the difference between winning & losing.
