Match report A cold & cloudy day welcomed both Phoenix & Thames Ditton to the first game of the season. This was Sethi's first game as captain and fortune favoured him as he wonthe toss and elected to bat. We made 198 with Vishal top scoring with an excellent 76 runs off 100 balls which included 11 fours and important contributions from both Jas with 37 off 37 balls which included 5 fours & a six and Jeeta with 42 off 45 balls which included 4 fours & a six. It should have been better but the key of not getting past 220 was our collapse as we went from 169 for 2 off 33 overs to 198 for 9 off our allotted 40 overs.

After tea, the lack of discipline in the bat went into fielding as well as we managed remarkably to drop 6 catches & miss 1 stumping. Not the ideal start when defending a score and inevitably we lost the game with 7 balls to spare. The adage of 'catches win matches' was never more apt than today. Sanjeev & Bunty were the pick of the bowling as they between them bowled 16 overs for 55 runs.
