Long Ditton v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sun 12 Jul 2009 at 2pm
Phoenix Cricket Club Lost 128 runs
Match report
With the bruisng defeat of last week still fresh in our minds, Fabian led his legions to the ever so loevely ground of Long Ditton. Long Ditton side comprise some talented young cricketers as a few of them are colts county level standard and today was no exception as they put out a side stronger than ours. On winning the toss, the Long Ditton skipper elected to bat first.
Ricky "the Hitman" Hatton is a British professional boxer. He is a two-time IBF and IBO light welterweight champion, having relinquished the IBF belt, only to step back down to the weight class and beat Juan Urango. He was the WBA Welterweight Champion, but relinquished this title on 31 August 2006. Hatton is also the former WBU, WBA Light Welterweight Champion and WBC, WBA, WBO Inter-Continental Light Welterweight Champion, and former Ring Magazine Junior Welterweight Champion.
Floyd Joy Mayweather, Jr., is an undefeated American professional boxer who has a record of 39-0 (25 KOs). Rated by The Ring magazine as the number-one pound for pound boxer in the world. Mayweather has won six world boxing championships in five different weight classes; he is the former WBC welterweight champion, a title he vacated upon his retirement.
Floyd Mayweather, Jr vs. Ricky Hatton (Undefeated) was a boxing match which took place on December 8, 2007, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, between two-time IBO, IBF, WBU and WBA Light Welterweight champion and former WBA Welterweight Champion Ricky Hatton and current WBC Welterweight Floyd Mayweather Jr.. The fight was for Mayweather's WBC Welterweight championship title. Mayweather defeated Hatton by knockout in the tenth round.
Rick Hatton is a talented boxer whose records are unquestionable but when he had to step up a notch to fight Mayweather, the difference was in class. The difference between Long Ditton and Phoenix is the same as Ricky 'Phoenix' Hatton faught hard but was easliy knocked out by the talented Long 'Mayweather' Ditton.
Long Ditton scored two hundred and fourteen runs with Phoenix only managing ninety-six. Zee produced with both bat & ball and for this reason he is named Man of the Match.
Well done to Long Ditton for a fun game and showing that winning is only a belief coupled with talent. As for Phoenix, they have the talent but lost belief. You can have anything you want if you will give up the belief that you can't have it. On another note, once again Phoenix should stop bickering amongst themselves whilst on the field as this does not show the true comradery we have but instead shows us in a bad light as the oppostion have to put up with it until it all over.
To quote Tom Bodett ( American author, voice actor and radio host) “The difference between school and life? In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson.”
