Magdalen 6-a-side Tournament v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Mon 31 Aug 2009 at 10.30am
Phoenix Cricket Club Won Finalist with Esher CC

Match report So onto the third (and final) of three games over the bank holiday weekend with the Magdalen 6-a-side tournament. Inglourious Basterds is a 2009 World War II revenge film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. During World War II a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as "The Basterds" are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis.

The Phoenix Inglourious Basterds were:

Rahul - Captain for the day and scored 91 runs as he scored runs and bowled well in all the matches throughout the day.

Ali - Excelled with both bat and ball as he scored 82 runs and took 6 wickets but his main contribution was his runs & wickets versus Old Horsell a match we needed to win to stay in the tournament.

Gupi - Kept wicket and scored 86 runs but his main contribution was his 25 against Surbition Imperials a match we needed to win to stay in the tournament.

Noman - Surprise package taking 4 wickets but contributed with excellant fielding and tidy bowling in all the matches throughout the day.

Rowdy - Gave his 100% at all times but his main contribution was his 19 against versus Magdalen in the semis.

DJ - Excelled in the field especially his catches but his main contribution was conceding only one run off his bowling versus Peckham Rye that gave us the perfect start.

Sanj - Bowled beautifully when the pressure was on as he did not concede one wide or noball resulting in runs and a freehit.

To quote Winston Churchill (British Orator, Author and Prime Minister during World War II. 1874-1965) “Sure I am this day we are masters of our fate, that the task which has been set before us is not above our strength; that its pangs and toils are not beyond our endurance. As long as we have faith in our own cause and an unconquerable will to win, victory will not be denied us.”
