Harrow Weald v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sun 18 Jun 2006 at 2pm
Phoenix Cricket Club Lost 3 wickets

Match report Attitude - a complex mental state involving beliefs and feelings and values and dispositions to act in certain ways; "he had the attitude that work was fun"

After last weeks victory, Jason led his jubilant and buoyant team on to Harrow. Once again another lovely day welcomed both teams and on winning the toss Jason made no hesitation in electing to bat first.

Phoenix made a bad start and after three overs were fourteen for three. Shiv and Jason settled down and soon after steadied the ship with some stout defensive play and precision placement. They made a excellent partnership of seventy four runs off fourteen overs when Shiv was run out for a well made thirty one. After twenty overs overs Phoenix had a good foundation of ninety one runs to build on.

The Saverimuttu brothers. Jason and Fabian, were at the crease and soon started the fireworks. They soon found their rhythm and had the ball flying to all corners of the ground with Fabian in an especially destructive mood. The next seven overs yielded fifty eight runs when Fabian fell for a superb thirty three.

Jason continued his brilliant batting when he was finally out for a sublime eighty four and Phoenix ended with a final score of one hundred and ninety, which included twenty eight fours and two sixes, with the final five overs going for forty runs.

Disappointingly in a timed match Harrow Weald only bowled thirty three overs and a special mention for Brereton's bowling who ended with five wickets.

Phoenix came out to the field feeling confident and knowing that they needed to be on top of their game in order to defend this score. Phoenix bowled well and soon started to make in roads in the Harrow batting order. Vishal bowled well enticing the batsman to play and ended with three wickets. Fabian and Sanj continued their form bowling with discipline and guile.

Every time the Harrow batsman took charge the Phoenix bowlers pegged them back by taking a wicket. Shiv took three excellent catches in the deep and Tushar managed to hang on to a stunner of a catch as the batsman tried to blast a full toss over his head in the cover region.

But mistakes were made as Phoenix dropped Woolf twice, first when he was on six and secondly when he was on seventy six, who then made Phoenix pay for their mistakes as he powered on to a great century. He ended the innings unbeaten on one hundred and two.

Harrow Weald hit the winning runs with an over to spare and ended a fabulous game of cricket where the pendulum of victory swung non-stop in both directions.

Well done to Harrow Weald and thanks for a great game and splendid tea.

The difference in winning and losing was in attitude - each of us has a decision to make: am I going to be involved with Phoenix as an individual player, or am I going to be part of a team?
