Match report
Energy - In general, the concept of energy refers to "the potential for causing changes". In physics, energy is the ability to do work and no matter what its form, physical energy has the same units as work; a force applied through a distance.
A warm day presented itself to both teams and on losing the toss Phoenix were asked to field first.
Normally one form of energy can often be readily transformed into another - for example gravitational potential energy is converted into the kinetic energy of moving water (and a turbine) in a dam, which in turn is transformed into electric energy by a generator. Today this was not to be.
Ali opened the bowling with pace & movement and gave Phoenix a great start with a wicket in his second over. He continued to bowl all day and ended with four wickets. Veraf and Sanj bowled with great control and had the Clapham batsmen thinking on how they will get there runs. They bowled in tandem and ended their twelve over spell conceding only forty seven runs and taking two wickets.
The Clapham batsmen then set about the Phoenix bowling scoring ninety five runs in the final eleven overs. Clapham's Hassan made a brilliant eighty three with extras the second highest scorer at forty one as Clapham ended their innings on a formidable one hundred and ninety seven.
Phoenix came out to bat and as with their fielding/bowling showed no signs of urgency. The game was all but lost as Phoenix at the half way stage of their innings were forty two for four. Varun and Tushar showed that the run chase was on scoring forty three runs in five overs but the run rate was too high and inevitably they got themselves out whilst trying to force the scoring.
Eventfully Phoenix were all out for one hundred and sixteen as Hassan finished with four wickets.
For Phoenix there was no energy flow as we were devoid of enthusiasm and spirit resulting in a lacklustre performance as we were not able to feed of any positive vibes.
Well done to Clapham for a polished performance whilst Phoenix need to do their homework on the Laws of Thermodynamics.
