Phoenix Cricket Club Lost 192 runs

Match report Proletarianization is a concept in Marxism and Marxist sociology. It refers to the social process whereby people move from being either an employer, self-employed or unemployed to being employed as wage labor by an employer.

Bourgeoisie is a classification used in analysing human societies to describe a social class of people who are in the upper or merchant class, whose status or power comes from employment, education, and wealth as opposed to aristocratic origin.

Varnashrama-dharma – duties performed according to the system of four varnas (social divisions) and four ashrams (stages in life) where an individual can move across varnas depending on qualification.

Brideshead Revisited - is a novel by the English writer Evelyn Waugh, which recalls the memoirs of Captain Charles Ryder who is stationed at Brideshead Castle during WWII and remembers his involvement with the owners of the Brideshead estate.

A hot day welcomed both teams and on winning the toss, the opposition captain had no hesitation on asking Phoenix to enjoy the heat of the sun and field first. Saket & Munir made their debuts for Phoenix and Varun making his first appearance this season.

It soon came to light that the Phoenix were up against a good side whose strength was greater than that of ours, which is of weak-medium. For Phoenix it was 'Barton Revisited' as the stand-in captain Sanj recalled his own memoirs of the last game on tour at Torquay.

Hampton Wick batted with aplomb and scored a mammoth two hundred and seventy off their allotted forty overs with both Noman and Munir bowling well. Lady luck and the Gods were not in the Phoenix camp as they let a few chances go by and finally came off the field sun battered and tired. The saving grace that kept Phoenix on the lighter side of sanity was Yazdan's enthusiasm and energy.

After tea Phoenix's resolve gave away and the game was over in the sixteenth over as Phoenix were skittled out for a paltry seventy eight runs. The only cheer Phoenix could muster was with the sixes and fours hit by Kashif.

Well done to Hampton Wick for winning and as for Phoenix they all got to go home early and watch the 20:20 final between Kent and Gloucestershire.

The difference between the two side was the class in terms of strength. Hampton Wick was Bourgeoisie whilst Phoenix today being the Proletariat. Phoenix members are picked regardless of ability alone but due to 'what they bring to the team in terms of fun, energy, desire' as well as talent. Phoenix is similar to the Varnashrama Dharma where the members move across class as they better themselves in their overall cricketing ability.
