Match report We beat Chertsey by 21 runs. On losing the toss again we were requested by the opposing skipper to bat first. We made a steady start with Kully & Prince playing solidly taking us to 42 in 10 overs but then all madness struck as we lost wickets regularly and were facing scoring humiliating total as we slumped to 70 for 8 after 20 overs. Then to all our surprise Gurdeep (Deepa) started to swing without a care in the world as he hit the ball cleanly to the boundary with ease. He powered to his maiden fifty smacking 10 fours on the way as we ended up with 151 when Sanj finally got out. At tea we had something to defend.

Chersey got to a good start with their openers scoring freely at over 5 runs an over and the usual 'cant catch' syndrome affected us again as we dropped the openers early on in their innings. Mannu made the break through with a ball that beat the batsman with both pace & movement for a plumb LBW. Then the triplets of spin Nad, Sanj & Wendel weaved their magic as they took between them 6 wickets for 55 runs in 24 overs to stem the run rate. Mannu & Sakhil then mopped up as we held our nerve to hold onto victory.

It was a fantastic game as both the Chertsey players and members/supporters gave us a standing ovation as we came into the pavilion. A brilliant gesture and an even better one was the Chertsey skipper buying us a jug of beer to celebrate our 10th year. Hats off to Chertsey as we have always played them since the creation of the club.

The funniest moment that made everyone burst with laughter was when Sanj replied with 'It cant beat you twice' when asked 'are we playing again this season'
