Match report We lost to Sunbury by 5 wickets. Sanj won the toss for the first time of the season and opted to bat first with what looked like a strong batting line up. Phoenix were soon in trouble as we limped to 31-4 after 8 overs. Then the magic began as Wendel & Harsha broke the 5th Wicket partnership record with a stand of 135. Wendel made a majestic 114 (which included 16 fours and 3 sixes) in just 67 balls and was ably assisted by Harsha who made 26 (which included 3 fours and a six). We reached 246 with Babbu making 23 (which included 3 fours) and Sakhil producing a cameo 35 runs (which included 6 fours and a six) off just 29 balls.

Sunbury batted superbly and were going at 8 runs per over when Sanj made the breakthrough. Sunbury were costing to victory but then Wendel & Harjit slowed things down with Sunbury needing 40 runs off the last 5 overs. Ill discipline in the field cost us victory as dropped catched and doing the basics of walking in to stop the single, backing up, simple throw ins & holding onto the ball deserted us. Sunbury hit the winning runs in the 39th over for a deserved victory.

There is still alot of learning and improving to do but that is what we love about the game.
