Hampton Wick Royal v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sun 29 May 2016 at 1pm
Phoenix Cricket Club Lost 90 runs
Match report
Lost to Hampton Wick Royal by 90 runs. What more can be said that the skipper hasn't already said. We started poorly off the field and the day ended the same way with the skipper retiring hurt. We lost by 90 runs as we were batted out of the game when we were very much on top. On losing the toss, we were asked to bowl first and we got off to a fantastic start. After 4 overs, we had the opposition 17 for 4 with Sandeep Sodhian & Ricky taking 2 wickets each and Sanjeev Kumar taking a top catch in the slips.
At 20 over drinks Hampton Wick Royal were 101 for 5, on a pure batting track we had done well. What happened next was truly disappointing as for some unknown reason our heads dropped and our ground fielding went from ridiculous to atrocious. At tea we needed 273 to win with Azim of HWR scoring 196 not out.
To win the game we needed the perfect start and Prince Kairon & Hitesh Pabari truly provided that. They opened and scored 105 off 17.4 overs with, Prince making 54 off 75 balls which included 8 fours, and Hitesh making 52 off 47 balls which included 7 fours. The target was to bigger a score to chase as we were eventually bowled out for 182. Alas our fielding cost us at least 50/60 runs and looking back a target of 220 to chase would have been very getable.
Gong forward we have learn from our mistakes and look on the positives that we achieved.
Statistically the leading players at the end of season are as follow:
