Pinkneys Green v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sat 29 Apr 2017 at 1pm
Phoenix Cricket Club Lost 3 wickets
Match report
Lost by 3 wickets. A lovely day to play cricket and after the week we had it was a great effort from the Phoenix boys to get a team out. Once again we didn't score enough runs but we bowled well and if we took our chances we would have won easily.
At the crucial parts of the match we buckled and these moments cost us. In the batting, we had 2 mini collapses, firstly at 38 for 1 we went to 53 for 6 and secondly we went from 134 for 6 to 136 all out. In the bowling/fielding we dropped catches & missed stumpings of 3 guys who had yet to score, unluckily all the chances were of Sanjeev Kumar bowling. They went onto make 90 between them and we lost by 3 wickets.
With a weak side out we gave an excellent account of ourselves with the boys taking responsibility and doing their level best. This type of commitment & team encouragement we need week in & week out throughout the season. Great effort from Tushar, Paras, Raman, Ravi, Kalu & Nabeel who stepped up to help the team out.
On a performance front:
Paras batted beautifully for 33 of 30 balls which included 7 fours.
Baljit Suman found his form and under pressure made a fantastic 52 off just 34 balls which included 10 fours.
BaBa Bunty Tejvir nearly took us to victory as he took 4 wickets off his 8 overs at the cost off just 18 runs
Vishal twisted is ankle in today's game and we wish him a speedy recovery and seeing back on the pitch very soon.
