St Albans v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sun 21 Apr 2019 at 12.30pm
Phoenix Cricket Club Won 3 runs
Match report
Game 2 versus St Albans & we won by 3 runs. A lovely warm & sunny day welcomed both teams and Vice captain, Vishal, first toss was a successful one as we opted to bat first. A tight affair but this time our fielding was top notch as we took our catches & run outs as we defended 1️34. BaBa Bunty Tejvir top scores with 34 and Mannu Singh was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 23.
After a fantastic start with Vishal Kumar hitting 18 off the first over we slumped to 56 for 6. Bunty & Mannu put on a 6️2 run partnership to get us to a score we could to try to defend. In the match scenario Sanjeev Kumar & Rohan Katkoria put on 6 runs for the final wicket which in the end was crucial. The key point here is trying to bat as long as you can and scoring what you can as every run is vital.
We fielded excellently with superb catches from Gurpreet Singh Chandi, Rajvinder Singh & Vishal that helped us stay in the game. Mannu & Bunty bowled beautifully in tandem that put the pressure on the opposition. Vicky Haripuriya made the key breakthrough with St Albans cruising to victory and then after missing a simple run out to win the game, Mannu took match winning wicket.
Brilliant stuff as the team stood strong under pressure and congratulations are in order for Rajinder Chouhan for his first win as captain.
MOTM is Bunty Singh.
