Outwood v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sun 19 May 2019 at 12.30pm
Phoenix Cricket Club Lost 23 runs
Match report
Game 9 versus Outwood & we lost by 23 runs. We fell short chasing 291 for victory but a tremendous effort from the captain Rajinder Chouhan who smashed 1️33 in 78 balls which included 13 fours & 8 sixes (100 runs came in boundaries).
We bowled well in spells but were not consistent enough but the fielding wasn’t up to standard as the opposition’s second top score were extras. Midfields & dropped catches were once again our Achilles Heal. Kamal bowled beautifully as he was the best bowler on both sides as his 8 overs went for only 18 runs with 2 wickets, this an excellent spell as over 550 runs were scored today.
We started the chase fantastically well as we were coasting at 10 runs per over for the first 7 overs when we lost Rajkaran Aulakh who had hit 21 off 17 balls off just 17 balls.
Vishal Kumar came & kept the tempo going with some glorious batting making 41 of 27 balls which included 9 fours. They put on 78 off in 8 overs & at 30 over drinks we were 148 for 3.
Mannu Singh contributed with a cameo of 25 off 24 balls which included 3 fours & a six but alas when we lost Sethi with 30 needed for victory, the chase was all but over.
We did ourselves proud as gave the opposition a good fright & fight. The beers at the end of the game were well deserved.
MOTM is Sethi Singh.
