Pinkneys Green v Phoenix Cricket Club Phoenix on Sun 27 Sep 2009 at 12.30pm
Phoenix Cricket Club Won 184 runs
Match report
On to the final game of the season and Phoenix were ready to rock & roll as the sun was out, Pinkneys Green not being too far away and plans for Karahi & Drinks in the evening all in place. So where do I start. Phoenix won the game by one hundred and eighty fours runs.
Gears of War is a 2006 third-person shooter video game developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios. The game centers on the soldiers of Delta Squad as they fight to save the human inhabitants of the fictional planet Sera from a relentless subterranean enemy known as the Locust Horde. The campaign focuses on Marcus Fenix, Dominic "Dom" Santiago, Damon Baird and Augustus "Cole Train" Cole.
Phoenix was playing its own Gears of War game as in the batting department Fabian Fenix & Jay Santiago plundered & pilleged runs relentlessly as Pinkney Green looked on as they scored a mammoth one hundred and fifty three runs in just eight overs. In the bowling & fielding department, Jazz Baird incarnated into his second form that of 'Parsi Ambrose of Phoenix' as he bowled inswinging yorkers to remove the two openers and everyone was amazed by Gindi Cole diving around.
Some scholars pinpoint the origin of statistics to 1662, with the publication of Natural and Political Observations upon the Bills of Mortality by John Graunt. Early applications of statistical thinking revolved around the needs of states to base policy on demographic and economic data, hence its stat- etymology. The scope of the discipline of statistics broadened in the early 19th century to include the collection and analysis of data in general. Today, statistics is widely employed in government, business, and the natural and social sciences. Because of its empirical roots and its focus on applications, statistics is usually considered to be a distinct mathematical science rather than a branch of mathematics. Its mathematical foundations were laid in the 17th century with the development of probability theory by Blaise Pascal and Pierre de Fermat. Probability theory arose from the study of games of chance. The method of least squares was first described by Carl Friedrich Gauss around 1794.
Today many Records were broken and Statistics captured. Historical records, also called archival records, are records you keep permanently because of their long-term research use. The following are to be added to this very collective:
i) Fabian scores the highest individual score of 151 runs which included 20 fours and 6 sixes
ii) Jay hits his first century
iii) Jay hits fastest century as his 100 runs comes off just 29 balls which included 4 fours and 12 sixes
iv) Fabian & Tushar make 155 breaking the first wicket partnership
v) First time two centuries are made in one inning (Fabian & Jay)
vi) First time two century partnership are made in one inning (Fabian & Tushar 155; Fabian & Jay 153)
vii) Team scores its highest total of 318
viii) Team score 300 plus for the first time
ix) Most boundaries hit 28 fours and 18 sixes
x) Indi takes his first stumping
xi) Jazz takes his first wicket
All the players contributed in one way or another and for this reason the Team is named Men of the Match. Also a special mention to Fabian for passing eight hundred runs & Jay for passing two hundred runs and to Sanj for passing fifty wickets for the season.
Well done to Pinkneys Green for being great hosts, providing a superb tea and enjoying the fun atmosphere. As for Phoenix, the perfect team display in which every player has made a contribution be it with making runs, taking wickets, holding onto a catch or taking a stumping. Cheering, laughter and applause were common theme today and it was infectious to all those playing and watching alike. Phoenix is about the team and the enthusiasm, spirit & brotherhood remains strong making the future look bright.
To quote Isaac Disraeli (11 May 1766 - 19 January 1848 was a British writer, scholar and man of letters. He is best known for being the father of British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli) "Enthusiasm is that secret and harmonious spirit which hovers over the production of genius.”
