Match report Game 4 v Long Ditton
Result: Won by 61 runs

Phoenix continued their strong start to the season with an excellent all-round performance, defeating Long Ditton by 61 runs in a match built on partnerships, disciplined bowling, and outstanding fielding.
The opposition won the toss and elected to field first, though Phoenix were happy to bat either way.

After an early wobble, the innings was rebuilt superbly by Ali Rizvi and Khizar Hayat, who combined for a crucial 127-run partnership for the 3rd wicket in 18.2 overs. Alongside 19 extras, the pair completely shifted momentum back in Phoenix’s favour.

• Ali Rizvi produced a magnificent innings of 88 off 92 balls, striking 17 fours and a six.
• Khizar Hayat anchored the innings beautifully with an unbeaten 68 off 74 balls, including 8 fours and 3 sixes.

Phoenix finished on a competitive 220 off 40 overs.

Knowing a strong fielding and bowling performance was needed, Phoenix came out with intensity — and delivered immediately. Ashik Khokhar and Ginni Dhaliwal opened the bowling with outstanding spells:
• Ashik used pace and movement brilliantly to finish with 8-3-16-2
• Ginni was relentless with line and length, taking 7-3-16-3

Long Ditton were rocked at 21-4 after 9 overs, and from there Phoenix maintained control throughout.

• Sanjeev Kumar may not have featured in the wickets column this week, but his spell of 8-1-21-0 applied relentless pressure and never allowed the opposition to settle.
• Salman Merchant and Adnan Wadood wrapped things up effectively, sharing four wickets between them.

In the field, Sheraz Ahmad and Gurpreet Chandi were electric, cutting off runs and attacking the ball with energy and commitment. Rajkaran Aulakh held onto an excellent catch, continuing the high fielding standards.

A true team display with contributions from everyone involved.
