Phoenix Cricket Club - Northants 2012 Tour

Northants 2012

Northampton began as a Saxon village. It was called Hamm tun, which means the village by the well-watered meadow. Later it was called North Hamm tun, probably to distinguish it from Southampton. Gradually the name changed to Northampton.

When they occupied Eastern England in the late 9th century the Danes turned Northampton into a stronghold called a burh.

So do the Danes and the Phoenix have anything in common.

Denmark become the very first European country to legalize same-sex marriages and offer for gay partnership the same rights as for heterosexual couples. So frolic we did with light-hearted recreational merriment for diversion and amusement which provided much mirth. Alas Rowdy, Hasan & Shazi were very keen on sharing a Danish pastry on the hour every hour that we just left them too it.

Most Famous Danes is writer Hans Christian Andersen , whose fairy tales have been translated into more languages then any other book in the whole world (except off course the Bible). Storytelling is common amongst the team with stories in the realms of godlike powers and superhuman achievement. These stories are often told at night as we are tucked in our beds after a few drinks. Kully himself fell asleep to one of his own stories as retold his greatness to Wendel.

Denmark has a lot of famous beer companies such as Carlsberg. Beer is the common fuel that drives the players on. The only guys that didn’t drink were Fabian and Vishal but whose Mango Milkshakes, Sweet Lassi’s and Red Bull & J20 cocktails cost more than the booze.

Among other things Danish people have invented the widely known children playthings LEGO. So play we did but the play never stopped on the pitch, with their smart phones Lav, Sudesh & Niket were constantly on the Playboy sites.

Phoenix on tour are a team full of laughter and comedy. To quote Mark Twain (American Humorist, Writer and Lecturer. 1835-1910), "
Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our irritation and resentments slip away, and a sunny spirit takes their place."

So another tour came & passed and yet again Phoenix showed their true colours and infected everyone involved with laughter, spirit and the sense of being a family.
